Hi, my name is Maarten-Jan Theijs, 45years old and I live in Uden, The Netherlands.
I became fascinated with water and the sea when I was in fourth grade. I studied Hydrography in Amsterdam and worked offshore and onshore in the Oil & Gas Industry for thirteen years. Enjoying my time on vessels and in offices in various parts of the world ultimately as Project Manager and Operational Manager.
After 10years in the business I started with my MBA at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. An overview of operations, international business and a personal interest in Change, Organisational Behaviour and Cultural Management came my way. Graduation followed in 2005.
New challenges crossed my path through managing projects in a completely new industry: “International Airports and Baggage Handling Systems”. What an experience it was for over 3years in Palermo, Dubai, AbuDhabi, Moldova, Antalya, and Cairo.
Back came the call for my original profession and we set out to set up an Internationally recognised education course for Hydrography. One that has no equals around the world and which attracts students from Trinidad to the Phillipines and Finland to South-Africa, truly global. Together with the initiation of courses in Cultural Diversity, Communications, Risk & Stakeholder Management. I was the Operations and General Manager.
Over 20years experience in all areas of (international) business, which I now intend to use for Management, Consultancy and Hydrography.
